Terms of Use

Spent Money is made and published by Samvel Sargsyan, an independent developer. In these Terms, “we” and “us” mean the developer, and “you” means you.

They cover the Spent Money app on iOS and Android, and this website.

By installing or using Spent Money, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the app.

Spent Money is a personal expense and budget tracker. You enter what you spend and what you receive, and it groups, totals and charts it for you.

It is a record-keeping tool, not financial advice. It does not connect to your bank, does not verify your figures, and nothing it shows is professional financial, tax or legal guidance. The decisions you make with it are yours.

Everything you enter is stored in a database on your own phone. There is no account to create, no server of ours holding your records, and no cloud sync.

That has a consequence worth stating bluntly: we cannot see your data, and we cannot recover it for you. If you delete the app, reset your phone or lose it, everything you entered goes with it unless you made a backup yourself.

You can export a backup file at any time and keep it wherever you like. The moment it leaves the app it is an ordinary file on your device, or wherever you shared it to, and looking after it is up to you.

Exporting a backup is free. Pro adds the option to protect that file with a password you choose, encrypting it with AES-256-GCM. There is no master password and no recovery route: if you forget it, that file cannot be opened by anyone, including us. Restoring is never blocked - not in the free version, and not if your Pro access ends, including a password-protected file you made while you had it.

The optional PIN protects the app on your device only. It is not a replacement for your phone’s own lock screen and encryption, and we cannot reset it for you.

Spent Money is free to use, and the free version is supported by advertising from Google AdMob. The ads are non-personalized, and the app never asks for tracking permission, so it cannot use your device advertising identifier. Google still receives your IP address, device and app information, and which ads were shown, in order to serve and measure them. In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom you are asked for consent the first time you open the app. Pro removes the ads entirely.

Two rules decide where the paid line sits, and both are worth stating plainly. The first is that the free version never limits the core job of tracking your money. Whether or not you ever pay, it always includes:

• Unlimited expenses and income. There is no cap on how much you record.
• The overall monthly spending limit, and the 9 built-in categories.
• Search, filters and sorting across everything you have entered.
• The PIN app lock. Security is never sold as an extra.
• All 37 languages, all 156 currencies to pick your main one from, all 18 number formats, all 11 date formats, and Light, Dark or system appearance.
• Exporting a backup, and restoring one - including a password-protected file made while you had Pro.

The second rule is that the free version limits creating and choosing, never seeing. What it limits is exactly the list in the next section: entering an amount in a currency other than your main one, ten of the twelve chart styles, statistics over any period other than the month, grouping, a budget per category, more than three categories of your own, and putting a password on a backup.

Nothing you have already entered is ever hidden or taken away. If you had Pro and stopped, your foreign-currency expenses still show their converted amounts, your own categories stay and stay editable, your per-category budgets still draw their progress, and your encrypted backups still restore. You simply cannot add more of them until you subscribe again.

Pro is an optional upgrade that removes the ads and unlocks the rest of the app:

• No ads
• Any currency for expenses and budget
• All 12 chart styles
• Group by day, week, month or category
• Day, week and year statistics
• Unlimited categories of your own
• A budget for every category
• Password-protected backups

Two of those are worth spelling out. “Any currency” means entering an amount in a currency other than the main one you chose - your main currency always works, whichever of the 156 it is. And a budget for every category is in addition to the overall monthly limit, which is free.

Pro is offered three ways, and every one of them unlocks exactly the same list above:

• Monthly$1.99Renews every month until you cancel it.

• Permanent$29.99Paid once, never renews, and a later price rise does not affect it.

Those are the reference prices in US dollars. Your own store shows you the exact amount in your own currency before you confirm anything, and it can differ from country to country - taxes and local pricing are set by Apple and Google, not by us.

Every purchase is made through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never see or handle your payment details. Purchases are validated through RevenueCat, which confirms them with the store and keeps a record of your subscription status.

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Manage or cancel in your store account settings.

A subscription renews for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not shorten the period you have already paid for.

Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Cancel it in your store account settings.

We never receive your money, so we cannot give it back. Payment goes to Apple or Google, and purchases are therefore not refundable by us.

If you want a refund, ask the store you bought from. Whether to grant one is entirely their decision under their own policies. If a store does refund a purchase, Pro access ends with it.

We may change our prices or the plans on offer. Store rules require that you are told about a price change to an active subscription and can cancel instead of accepting it. A permanent purchase you have already made is not affected by a later price change.

A permanent purchase unlocks Pro on the store account that bought it, with no recurring charge. It is not a promise that the app will exist, stay on sale, or keep working on every future phone and operating system.

Your own records never leave your device. Adding, editing, budgets, charts and backups all work with no connection at all. The app reaches the internet for exactly three things:

• Checking a purchase, through RevenueCat.
• Loading ads, in the free version.
• Fetching the day’s exchange rate when you save an expense in a currency other than your main one.

Exchange rates come from free third-party services and are passed on exactly as we receive them. They can be rounded, wrong or out of date, and they are not suitable for accounting, tax, or anything that has to be exact. If no rate can be fetched, the expense is not saved at all rather than stored at a stale one.

You have a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Spent Money on devices you own or control, for your own use.

You may not copy, sell, rent, redistribute or publish the app or its source code; reverse-engineer or decompile it, except where the law expressly allows it; work around the Pro restrictions or fake an entitlement; or use the app for anything unlawful.

Spent Money, its source code, design and name remain the property of Samvel Sargsyan. All rights reserved. Third-party components stay with their own owners under their own licences.

Spent Money is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind. We do not promise that it will be free of faults, available at all times, or fit for any particular purpose.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost or damaged data, a backup that cannot be opened, an incorrect exchange rate, a budget you went past, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and none of it affects the consumer rights you have where you live.

You must be old enough to hold an account with your app store and to enter into a binding agreement where you live. If you are under that age, use Spent Money only with the consent of a parent or guardian.

You can stop using Spent Money at any time by deleting it - remembering that this deletes your data too. We may stop publishing or supporting the app, though we will never reach into your device to remove what you have already installed.

These Terms may change. When they do, the date at the top of this page changes with them, and continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new version.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Armenia, because Spent Money is made in Armenia by an Armenian developer. This does not remove the protection of any mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, which continues to apply to you.

These Terms are published in 37 languages. Where a translation and the English version disagree, the English version is the one that applies.
